Dan Thompson wrote some amazing spreadsheet programs for the home-based crafts industry. For almost two years he was in the soapmaking business. During that time he developed two spreadsheet programs for his soaping company. They both helped him save time and kept his business prices accurate.
He started selling these Number Cruncher Programs™ on the side and soon realized he had a product that was in need by more than just a few people. If you are serious about your craft, these spreadsheets will help you with the dreaded number crunching end of your business.
Since Dan started out by doing soap, his first two programs were geared to that craft. After selling in craftshows he decided to write a spreadsheet that was universal for all show participants.
He purposely kept his prices low to allow everybody the opportunity to purchase these valuable business helpers. He knew what it was like to have a budget based on the amount of sales.
These products are not stand alone computer programs, they are spreadsheet files and need a spreadsheet program to run them. These spreadsheets have been written to run on Microsoft's® EXCEL 2003/2000/97 format.
Older versions of EXCEL, such as 5.0 will not work. Microsoft's® WORKS will not work either, it requires an un-protected spreadsheet to run. All of the spreadsheets must be protected. Without protection, math formulas and text could very easily be deleted or corrupted. WORKS comes free with most computers, it is a spreadsheet program, but it is very watered down and just will not do the job. Please, do not get WORKS confused with EXCEL.
There are other programs that claim to run EXCEL's .XLS files, some may work fine in converting the program. Those that were tested had formatting problems. No guarantee is made if your program is not EXCEL 2003/2000/97.
