Soapies Supplies :: Soap Molds :: Wooden Soap Molds

Made by hand in the Heartland of the USA and then shipped, by American Postal Service, to the stunning deserts of the American Southwest

What makes our molds better? - Made of select quality, knot-free pine. - Screwed together (not nailed) for durability. - Each mold comes with it's own slip-fit lid. - Can be used with any method of soapmaking, including in the oven at temperatures lower than 200°.

Care and use of your Simple Soothings Mold

Before using your mold the first time, we recommend applying a heavy coat of oil on the wood and allowing it to soak in. Castor oil works well (this is what we use for our molds here) or any other heavy oil will do. You could periodically do this to help prevent the wood from becoming dry and warping, especially if you use your mold in the oven. When using the mold in the oven we do not recommend going over 170 degrees F. Our molds are made of high quality wood that is screwed together for added strength and to help it to hold up to high temperatures. Due to variations in wood, you may experience some slight warping but the molds we have been using for over a year are holding up very well. When cleaning your mold, we recommend scraping off as much of the dried soap as possible, then wipe clean with a damp cloth, if desired. NEVER SOAK THE MOLD IN WATER!

Tips for Lining your Simple Soothings Mold
Cut a piece of freezer paper to length and lay it on the counter face down.
Take your lid and place it in the center of the paper and carefully trace around it.
Now take your lid (or a ruler) and extend all your lines to the end of the paper. You will now have something that looks like a Red Cross symbol on the paper.
Cut out the corners of the paper and turn over.
Fold all sides in on the lines of the paper.
Your liner should now slide into your mold with a nice fit!

Once you have mastered the instructions above you can make 6-8 liners at a time by stapling multiple sheets of freezer paper together. When you do this keep the paper as flat and smooth as possible to insure all the sheets get cut exactly the same size. Remember to take your time when you do this. If you rush through this and don't get it straight you will end up spending more time re-trimming the liner to get it to fit correctly.

Tips for Filling your Simple Soothings Mold
When filling the mold with the specified amount of soap, it will fill approximately 1" to 2" from the top. After filling, take the excess paper from one side of your liner and fold it over so it lies on top of the soap, taking care not to get air bubbles on the top. Then simply set the lid on top and push down slightly to level out the top of the soap.
